President Putin welcomes Infantino in Krasnodar

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin today welcomed FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Krasnodar. During the visit, both discussed the preparations for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 and the 2018 FIFA World Cup™, met with a group of volunteers and visited the football academy and stadium of Russian Premier League club FC Krasnodar.

With 25 days to go until the opening match of the Tournament of Champions, Putin and Infantino expressed their confidence in the competition’s success and highlighted the good cooperation between FIFA, the Local Organising Committee and the Russian authorities.

The FIFA President expressed his satisfaction with the meeting, saying: “It was a great opportunity to meet with President Putin and discuss the current status of preparations for the upcoming events in Russia. I look forward to meeting with the President again at the opening match of the FIFA Confederations Cup in Saint Petersburg in a few weeks’ time.”
